The Miracle of a Good Night’s Sleep

By Tatyana Platitsa

I made my first foray into the beautiful world of the Bodhi Meditation Center in Toronto in August of 2011. Originally from Ukraine, I am kept busy in Canada working in the IT sector as a Senior Systems Analyst.

I had been enmeshed in a long period of stress and was unable to sleep without sleeping pills. Reliant on the pills for more than two years, their effectiveness had substantially diminished. Depression and fatigue were unwanted bedfellows in my life.

A friend of mine had been introduced to Bodhi by an acupuncturist and herbalist named Catalina Wu, and urged me to try it. I started by attending a three-day class, and eventually went on to attend the Bodhi Meditation and Fitness Retreat.

On my first day of class I felt very weak and physically sick, and three times nearly gave up and left. However, Catalina and the other instructors gave me ample care and attention, and thanks to their gentle urging I decided to stay to the end of the session. That night was the first in years that I slept without pills. It was a miracle! Since then, I’ve never taken another sleeping aid. I practice The Meditation of Greater Illumination, The Meditation of Purity and Chanting to Avalokitesvara regularly which helps me to feel more energetic, inspired and balanced.

I was introduced to Bodhi Meditation at a time when I needed help. I’ve received from Bodhi the kind of transformative assistance that I couldn’t get anywhere else. This practice is a powerful tool that really does dispel problems. It promotes physical and mental health as well as spiritual brightness. I cannot adequately express how thankful I am to the instructors and all of the people at the Toronto Center, and to those I’ve met from the Center in Vancouver. Everyone is so kind, friendly and generous with their support. My deep appreciation and gratitude also go out to the Master – his mission to bring Bodhi Meditation to people around the world is a mission of love.
