Saturday Global Online Group Practice (31 December 2016)

[ Why Do We Chant? ]

A disciple once related an incident:
When he was a child, he could not answer a question in his homework. He has to fill in the words of a Chinese expression “ 一 ( ? )”. He asked his dad, to which he replied, “一元復始, 萬象更新”.

His father explained it means “Everything starts afresh in a new year.” He also said it is important to chant on the first day of the New Year to ensure an auspicious year ahead. Keeping his father’s advice in mind, this disciple has been chanting for his closed family members when this day comes around.

Time flies …. in a few more days, we will be ushering in 2017. What are your wishes? Perhaps this year, you have some unhappiness in your job and interpersonal relationships.

To clear obstacles in life and have a pure body and mind, you have to believe in accomplishing tasks with utmost faith and chant with sincerity.

I welcome everyone to join me this Saturday to chant for your parents, relatives and friends. We will usher in the brand New Year bask in Buddha’s light; start afresh with good thoughts and receive blessings for health, happiness and wisdom.
