Bodhi Meditation Stress Relief Retreat

Take yourself on a journey of relaxation and revitalization for your body and mind. Treat yourself to the gift of inner peace, take a break from the constant pace of modern life, learn how to take care of your mind and body through meditation.

Are you burnt out at work? Stressed by school? Overwhelmed by parenting? Anxious about your wellbeing? Life is really not easy. Stress and illness creep up out of nowhere, adding obstacles and challenges to our already busy lives.

From a very young age, the pressure to succeed starts: studying hard, going to a good school, applying for university, choosing a major, choosing a career, finding a good job, meeting a good partner, starting a family, buying a house, buying a car – we face all kinds of pressures in life work.

After a long time, this kind of high-stress lifestyle may be transformed and manifested as physical and mental ill-health; diseases that really occur in our body. Traditional Chinese Medicine emphasizes the idea that health problems can be brought on by mental stress.

Negative emotions in particular – anger, sadness, sorrow, worry, and fear – but also excessive happiness and joy, can cause health problems. In other words, for example, if you are stressed about rent, or struggling with your studies and grades, these pressures can form real physical illnesses.

While some health problems are not life-threatening, they can be very tormenting. For example, insomnia, headaches, migraines, low back pain, mental health, joint pain — these chronic illnesses are not fatal, but challenging to deal with every day.

Our usual methods of stress management and decompressing like going outdoors, exercising, singing, or socializing on weekends and holidays are all good ways to de-stress. Another effective practice is Bodhi Meditation’s methods, that can bring us a unique kind of relaxation, purification, energy, and replenished vitality.

Vancouver | Leslie Reichert: November 2018 Online Stress Relief Class

For this retreat, I experienced a major emotional shift. It felt very wonderful, it was very deep. I released a lot of emotion about being betrayed in the past – I was able to let all that go, forgive the person involved, forgive the circumstances, forgive myself – and I feel so much lighter. I feel more peaceful, it’s a feeling of peace. I feel like I can move to the next period of my life without having that burden to carry along with me.

Now, I sleep better, I don’t worry as much about the day to day things – nothing is that important that you have to get anxious about it, because everything is happening the way it’s supposed to happen – so you can just let all that anxiety and worry go. It was really beneficial.

I liked the way the combination of the teaching and the meditations were structured. I found that the energy from doing the meditations was very strong, which surprised me because it was coming through the computer. I really enjoyed it and felt connected to the other participants.

Singapore | Wei Ling: June 2019 Online Stress Relief Class

The 12-Day Online Stress Relief Class brought me so many unexpected benefits. Since both of us work full-time, we are usually already very tired by 7pm when evening class starts. I’m the type of person to get tired very easily. However, because we heard about the benefits of meditation classes, we decided to try out the class.

It was amazing. After 2.5 hours of meditation on our first day of class, I actually felt a lot of energy – the energy kept coming. Usually when we go out in the evenings, especially after a long day of work, we’re exhausted when we get home; but surprisingly, after the class, I didn’t feel tired at all. Most importantly, although I didn’t feel tired, I could still fall asleep. In fact, I fell asleep as soon as I got into bed and had a very good sleep.

The next day at work, I was surprisingly focused and energized. So of course, we went back the second night! Even after a full day of work and a full evening of meditation, sort of like recharging, you feel the energy. One of the major benefits I experienced was this kind of energy being given to me – I’ve never felt this before.

Stress Relief Retreat Reminders

1. Wear loose-fitting clothing that you can relax in.
2. Make sure you have socks or slippers, and an extra jacket or scarf in case you get cold.
3. For the duration of the retreat, please eat a light diet. Avoid overeating and eating too richly; this will reduce the burden on your stomach and help calm your mind and body.

Please put your phone on silent, airplane mode, or turn it off! Eliminating unnecessary distractions helps to relax and quiet the mind and ensure we are present in the moment.
