Darren Kemp | Los Angeles, USA

Darren Kemp is 65 years old (as of 2025). She is a former flight attendant of Jamaican descent.
In 2009, she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS), a rare autoimmune disease affecting the central nervous system for which there is currently no cure. (Editor’s note: Multiple sclerosis is an autoimmune disease characterized primarily by inflammatory demyelination of the white matter in the central nervous system.)
As her condition worsened, her legs gradually became stiff due to sclerosis, making it increasingly difficult for her to walk. However, after she discovered Bodhi Meditation, Darren Kemp’s life entered an entirely new chapter.
My Multiple Sclerosis Disappeared
Six years ago, I met a Bodhi Meditation practitioner through the nurse who regularly gave me my injections. She introduced me to Bodhi Meditation, and I attended a Health & Happiness Retreat for the first time.
Before that, I relied on either a walker or a cane to get around. I also had to take injections and medication every day. I couldn’t even drive, let alone sit comfortably on a meditation cushion. During that period of illness, I felt like a broken and incomplete person.
To my surprise, on the third day of the Health & Happiness Retreat, I was able to throw away my cane and walk on my own. I could even climb three flights of stairs by myself while holding on to the handrails with both hands—something that had previously been almost impossible.
After attending the Medicine Buddha Birthday Ceremony in November of the same year, I decided to stop taking all my medications and reduced my injections to just once a week. (Editor’s note: Bodhi Meditation does not encourage participants to stop or reduce medication on their own. Please always follow your physician’s medical advice.)
During my follow-up examination, my MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) results showed that my body was completely normal. The multiple sclerosis was gone. From that day on, I no longer needed a wheelchair, a walker, or even a cane.
The remarkable improvement in my health gave me tremendous confidence. I continue to practice for four hours every day, including the Medicine Buddha’s Meditation of Greater Illumination, full-body prostrations, Energy Bagua, and Buddha-name chanting. After participating in multiple meditation retreats, I discovered that not only had I become more beautiful, but I had also become slimmer. I am deeply grateful to Bodhi Meditation for bringing all these wonderful changes into my life.
(Ps: The effects of meditation will vary from person to person.)
