Back pain is all too common. It only takes one wrong move to end up with a lifetime of back pain, from dull, continuous aching to sudden, acute agony. As most modern medicine is only able to offer pharmaceutical or surgical pain management, it can feel like a hopeless endeavor to try and cure your back pain. But the good news is that thousands of students have recovered from chronic back pain through meditation – and perhaps you can too.

What Causes Back Pain?

Back pain can result from a fall, a car accident, lifting something too heavy, or even just natural aging. But it doesn’t matter what causes back pain in the first place; once you have it, you know it. Some common causes of back pain include

  • Disc Degeneration: Discs between the vertebrae of a healthy spine are pliable, allowing for a greater range of motion and flexibility. These discs degenerate and lose their shock-absorbing properties as we become older.
  • Herniated and Ruptured Discs: Discs in the spine are compressed and bulge outward, producing excruciating pain in the lower back.
  • Spinal Nerve Root Injury: Inflammation distorts the spinal nerve root from these injuries. The patient has limb-wide discomfort, numbness, or tingling. Often these spinal nerve root injuries are brought on by a herniated or ruptured disc.
  • Spinal Stenosis: Spinal canal narrowing puts strain on the spinal cord and nerves. Numbness, weakness, and lack of sensation are common symptoms of spinal stenosis.
  • Traumatic Injuries: Intervertebral discs may herniate or rupture when subjected to high-impact situations, such as during sports, vehicle accidents, or falls.

No matter how dire, there is hope for you to recover from your back pain. Just listen to some stories of similar patients who have benefited from meditation for back pain.

How Does Bodhi Meditation Work to Relieve Back Pain?

People who experience chronic pain might benefit from meditation. The benefits of mindfulness training on pain management can last much longer than those of cognitive behavioral therapy and standard medical care.

In addition, you may see a reduction in the occurrence of comorbid illnesses such as stress and anxiety, insomnia, and neck, shoulder, and leg pain.
