I began living a hectic lifestyle in my early 20s, working nine to 12 hours a day and neglecting my health. Beginning in October 2014, I often felt exhausted, nauseous and had a poor appetite. Through a medical checkup, I learned that I had renal dysfunction and my creatinine index was high at about 2 mg/dL. (Editor’s note: The creatinine index reflects the kidneys’ ability to filter. The higher the value of creatinine, the greater the renal dysfunction. The normal creatinine value in women is between 0.50 mg/dL and 1.10 mg/dL.)

Shedding Tears

In 2015, I stayed home to recuperate while spending an exorbitant amount of money on medical care. Being without income put tremendous pressure on me. I felt useless and often shed tears of helplessness.

After a month of rest, my creatinine value was at almost 4 mg/dL. My local doctor advised me to get dialysis treatment. Instead, I headed to Singapore for another checkup. I learned that I had an autoimmune disease, which was the cause of the malfunction of my kidneys. By this time, my creatinine index had risen to 5.74 mg/dL. The doctor told me that I might need to take medication for the rest of my life in order to save my kidneys.

Following that, I made monthly trips to Singapore for medical treatment. During this period, my weight rose from 55 kilograms to 62 kilograms and my face became swollen. In 2015, the hair on the top and sides of my head became very sparse, to the extent that I had to put on a wig whenever I went out.

Light Enters

Just when I was feeling hopeless, my sister-in-law introduced me to Jakarta Bodhi Meditation Center. In October 2016 I participated in the 8.5-Day Health & Happiness Retreat. When I was practicing The Meditation of Greater Illumination, I felt as if there were light entering my body. I felt very warm, comfortable and calm. On the seventh day of the retreat, my three daughters came to visit me and commented that I looked radiant.

After the retreat, I continued practicing The Meditation of Greater Illumination daily. I also began to walk an hour of Energy Bagua every day.  Gradually, I felt more energetic and my mood was buoyant. The worry and frustration that had plagued me began to fade.

After completing the 108-day Energy Bagua foundation course, I went to Singapore for a medical checkup. This time my creatinine index had dropped to 1.42 mg/dL. The doctor told me that the frequency of my checkups could be reduced to every six months. He also reduced my medication to one dose every two days.

Six months later, my creatinine index had dropped to 1.15 mg/dL. I decided to further reduce my medication to once or twice weekly. My weight had decreased to 57 kilograms. I no longer experienced fatigue or nausea, and my appetite had improved. My hair started to grow in thick and healthy.

Inspired to Share

After a year and a half of meditation, my body has recovered and my heart is filled with deep gratitude for Bodhi Meditation. In October 2017, during an Energy Bagua event in Jakarta which was attended by more than 1,200 participants, I bravely stepped forward to share the benefits I’ve gained from the practices. My husband was very happy and inspired that I spoke in front of a big group of people.

I had another medical checkup in May 2018. My creatinine index has remained within the normal range. Bodhi Meditation has brought me good health as well as many warm and caring friends. Nowadays, in addition to practicing meditation, I help my husband at our store. I also look after our grandchildren. How grateful I am to be living a very fulfilling and happy life.
